Lisa Thomas About me I have worked for Carers Trust South East Wales for the past 11 years, working with young carers. My role has changed over the 11 years. I initially worked directly with young carers, supporting them with their education, helping them to take regular breaks from caring and acting as an advocate as and when required. Over the last three years I've supported the delivery and development of the Young Carers in Schools Programme, working across two regions. The aim is to work in partnership with education settings for them to better, ‘understand, inform, identify, support and listen’ to young carers. In 2018 I was successful in applying for the role of Young Carers Manager, I am passionate about the work we deliver for all carers, I love what I do and the job is different every day. What do you enjoy doing away from work? I have a six year old who keeps life entertaining, he loves music as much as I do, so we spend a lot of time singing and dance like no one is watching. I love a box set and a good film cwtched up on the sofa. Catching up with friends over a drink and some food is a winner too. Favourite food? I am not a massive foodie, I eat to survive. However I love a lamb dinner with loads of vegetables, gravy and lashings of mint sauce, my all time favourite.
