About me

I worked in local government for forty two and a half years, and latterly in Social Services in Gwent County Council and Caerphilly CBC.  My role in the last few years was as a Contracts Manager for domiciliary care and residential and nursing care. I was much involved in liaising with Providers and working to deal with performance issues. I also managed a team for most of the last 25 years of my paid service.

I got involved with Carers Trust South East Wales and its predecessors because I felt that they had a particular part to play in caring for people who care for others. I enjoy meeting carers and their families and ascertaining how they find our services. I also have a long background in the public sector with committee and governance work.

What do you enjoy doing away from work?

I enjoy travelling and reading about travel, particularly railway journeys. My wife and I enjoy cruising and longer haul holidays, which have taken us to Europe, Canada and more recently, New Zealand.

Favourite food?

My favourite food can vary - Italian, Indian or whatever - but I enjoy any food!
