The latest round of Carers Support Fund Grants provided by Welsh Government have proved incredibly popular and Carers Trust South East Wales (CTSEW) has had to close applications within 10 hours of opening.

We understand some people may be frustrated by the fact that this round of grants opened and closed so quickly, but the volume of demand highlights the massive pressures unpaid carers in south east Wales are under.

With over a third of applications from this round of grants specifically for food, and over two thirds either for food or household items, it’s clear carers are facing unprecedented challenges as a result of the pandemic.

CTSEW has already awarded over £150,000 in grants from the Carers Support Fund directly to unpaid carers in south east Wales since November.

Any unpaid carers in south east Wales can register with CTSEW for a wide-range of help, support and assistance – including advice on other financial support that may be available.

We will be prioritising those who have not applied previously during the March round of grants.

The Carers Support Fund has been provided by Welsh Government via Carers Trust Wales to be administered by Carers Trust South East Wales (CTSEW).
