Our super fit carer support worker Dorren Goodman is taking on her biggest ever sporting challenge – running the London Marathon in aid of Carers Trust South East Wales!

Dorren, 53, has worked for Carers Trust South East Wales for six years and has always been a very keen runner, having run her first marathon at the age of just 14. Her most recent marathon was two years ago in Liverpool and Dorren regularly competes in half marathons, including one in Lanzarote last year.

Dorren also helps run a running club in Penarth – the Social Runaways. The group are focused on the social side of running and cater for all ages and abilities.

Dorren said: “I must admit the London Marathon has almost happened by accident. A few of my running club have applied in the past and missed out, so I did just that and got a place! I think I cried for two days!

“Joking aside, I’m really looking forward to the atmosphere especially. It’s an iconic race and it’ll be amazing seeing all the landmarks on my way. I have my friends from Carers Trust South East Wales coming down to London for a couple of days to support me which is brilliant.

“The training has been intense and I’m out running four or five days a week to get myself ready. I keep telling myself I’m too old for this type of thing – I can safely say this will be my last ever marathon!”
