Crossroads Care Bridgend has merged with Carers Trust South East Wales to ensure the long-term sustainability of specialist services for unpaid carers in Bridgend.

Crossroads Care Bridgend has been providing services for carers and people with care needs in Bridgend for over 25 years and the decision to come under the umbrella of Carers Trust South East Wales means carers can expect better, more focused services and support now and into the future. Bridgend County Borough has a higher percentage of carers (12.5%) than the national average (10%) and the merger will help Carers Trust South East Wales build on the work it’s already doing to identify and support carers in the area through its Bridgend Carers Wellbeing Service.

People currently using the services of Crossroads Care Bridgend will not see any changes to the services they receive. The staff and support workers that people are used to seeing on a daily basis will all carry on their great work as before.

Carers Trust South East Wales Chief Executive Gareth Howells said:

“This is an exciting time for unpaid carers across Bridgend. Between us, the two organisations have a combined history of supporting carers for over 60 years and together we will be able to use our experience, knowledge and combined resources to have a greater impact on the lives of carers.”

As part of the launch of the new Carers Wellbeing Service in Bridgend, Carers Trust South East Wales will be hosting a Carers Information Day on Thursday 5th September in the Hi-Tide, Porthcawl. Anyone can come long to find out more about the support available to unpaid carers in Bridgend, and also about the exciting future plans of this new service.
