A group of unpaid carers from Torfaen made the national news this week. The group of older carers featured on Channel 4 News in a special feature exploring how older carers are coping during the Coronavirus crisis.

Tony and Dorothy, Ellen, Diane, Jean and Beryl were initially filmed at our Gwent Carers Hub in Pontypool town centre in January, talking to Channel 4 Home Affairs correspondent Andy Davies about their care roles and how much they rely on the Gwent Carers Hub as a place to take a break from the pressures of caring once a week.

The Channel 4 News team revisited the group earlier this month in their own homes to find out how their caring roles have changed and what extra pressures they are facing during the crisis.

Also making the news this month was young carer Ronnie, who is supported by our Young Carers team. Ronnie featured on BBC Wales talking about the struggles he has been facing as a young carer trying to access supermarket facilities.
