External help and support

At home

Welsh Water may be able to provide reduced water rates to carers.

Western Power Distribution have a register of vulnerable people who might have difficulty in the event of a protracted power cut. They can contact emergency responders if required.

The Warm Home Discount Scheme can help low-income carers with support for fuel payments.

Use the Gas Safe Register to find a registered Gas Engineer who can service your boiler this winter.

The Fire Safety in Winter campaign can help you stay warm and safe this winter.

We have a range of mental health and wellbeing services available for free to carers until 31 March

Contact your GP or local pharmacy about getting a flu jab this winter.

Ageing Well in Wales offers a range of resources around falls prevention.

Call Helpline offers a dedicated listening helpline for people living in Wales.

Financial help

Apply for a grant of up to £300 from the Carers Support Fund Wales.

The Discretionary Assistance Fund can help pay for essential costs, such as food, gas, electricity, clothing or emergency travel.

You may be eligible for a Council Tax Rebate.

You might be eligible for benefits like Winter Fuel Payments and/or Carers Allowance.
